![]() We take comfort in knowing they are together again and being left with a lifetime of stories to continue telling. Mom never got over the passing of Malcolm. The last few years she took a lot of comfort in retelling stories of these times or growing up in Newfoundland, and if the story was at the mild expense of a brother, relative or friend they were told with extra enthusiasm. Violet loved being surrounded by family and friends on Bailey Crescent, the cottage in Haliburton or trips back to Newfoundland with her growing family or in later years in retirement at a house her and Malcolm bought in Newfoundland to spend summers with the friends and relatives of their youth. Each expansion to the family was such a blessing to her. Violet adored children and they were drawn to her. She later became Great Nanny to Olivia, Hanna, Frankie, Avery, Charlie, Ruby and Hadley. ![]() Mom became Nanny to Michael, Ashley, Jayde, Brittaney, Emma, Kelsey and Owen and she was also known as Nanny to many of their friends and became Franks Nanny when he and Ashley married. They lived there 60 years and she was Auntie Vi to the many kids on the street, many of whom attached themselves to her. Bailey Crescent was a special place for the entire family, as well as many close neighbours. They started a family on Bailey Crescent in Scarborough, with Janet (Steven) Gordon (Dianne) and Gary (Susan). Violet and Malcolm had known each other their entire lives and were married for 67 years before Malcolm passed in 2021. Her parents must have taken comfort in Max looking out for his little sister, and Phyllis keeping an unwavering eye on both Max and Violet. Max and Phyllis were already in Toronto and they gladly took her in. Violet followed her teenage sweetheart, Malcolm, soon after he left for Toronto. Although Mom was always Aunt Violet to Ros, they were closer than most sisters throughout their entire lives. It is hard to say which ones she thought more of.Īs fate would have it, she wasn’t the youngest for long before a niece, Rosalyn (Aus), came along. Violet grew up with cats she snuck in the house and horses in the barn. She also used being the youngest against her brothers who she either adored or proudly tormented. Violet used being the youngest and only daughter to her advantage, playing off her mother who wouldn’t let her out of the house, against a father who would quickly respond “Go on maid” with any request she had for him. She grew up the youngest in the family with three older brothers Edward (Eleanor), Max (Phyllis) and Ross (June). Violet was born in Lower Lance Cove on Random Island in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland to Frank and Florence Stone in 1932. It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Ivany announces her passing.
